The meta has changed again in Season 3 with all the buffs and nerfs and brand new weapons, so we’ve taken all 11 Warzone 2 assault rifles and sorted them into a ranked list, leaving the top five choices, for every playstyle and situation.

5. Chimera 

The Chimera Assault Rifle arrived with the Warzone 2 Season 1 Reloaded update and has proven itself to be a fantastic choice for close combat in a short amount of time.

With low recoil and a high rate of fire, the Chimera is perfect for those players who like to get closer and closer. Even though it is very similar to the Kastov-74u, we ranked it higher because it is a bit easier to use and more forgiving.

4. STB 556

What makes Warzone 2’s STB 556 so powerful is that it’s the perfect hybrid of an assault rifle and an SMG. He also received significant improvements to his damage output in Season 3.

With more mobility and faster kill times than a traditional assault rifle, but more range than a submachine gun, this is one of the best weapons to pair with a sniper rifle like the Victus XMR. Just build the STB 556 for mobility and you’ll be almost unstoppable at close to mid range.

The classic SCAR has finally earned meta status with the TAQ-56, and it has remained one of the top assault rifle options since the launch of Warzone 2, despite a minor Season 3 nerf.

The TAQ-56 incorporates the element of what makes any other assault rifle great, putting them together into the perfect kit. Whether you’re going for a more mobile steel scope or equipping it for long-range combat, you’ll be able to kill players with ease.

The TAQ-56 is a bit harder to use than the similar M13B, but the damage you’ll be doing is well worth it.

The ISO Hemlock Assault Rifle from Season 2 was quickly recognized as a powerful choice once it hit the hands of players, combining high damage with low recoil for mid to long range dominance.

In Season 3, its damage range was reduced and while the weapon remains incredibly viable, it was knocked out of first place.

The ISO has been compared  to  powerful variants such as the EM2 and Grau 5.56, as these strong bullets hit easily. Top streamers and content creators have gravitated towards this weapon and it is currently the best long range weapon in Warzone 2.

1. Kastov 762 is the best assault rifle in Warzone 2

Hemlock’s pain was winning the Kastov 762 in Season 3 as the Long Range Assault Rifle managed to take first place after a major seasonal update.

It is currently the most popular weapon in Warzone 2, which is usually a great indicator of where a weapon is in the post-update meta.

The Kastov 762 is far from the easiest ranged weapon, but if you hit the target, the TTK of this weapon is unmatched among assault rifles.
