Expected release date for the second season of Modern Warfare 2
The expected release date for the Modern Warfare 2 Season 2 update is Wednesday, February 1 , 2022 . These seasonal updates typically arrive around 10:00 AM PT / 1:00 PM ET / 6:00 PM GMT.
The Season 1 Battle Pass is currently coming to an end, and unless the developers make any changes, February 1st is the date to keep an eye on.
Once the official launch date for Season 2 has been confirmed, we’ll let you know when to expect the update.
Modern Warfare 2 season 2 weapons leaked online
Datamining and a new attachment added to the game suggest that the Vepr-12 crossbow and shotgun could make an appearance in Modern Warfare 2 season 2.
The crossbow has appeared in several recent Call of Duty games and has been used in the campaign, so it wouldn’t come as a big surprise. The semi-automatic “Vepr-12” was put forward in theory because “Private Matches” briefly showed unreleased shotgun muzzles, and one of them exactly matched the “Vepr-12”.
Modern Warfare 2 Season 2 game mode leaks
The fan-favorite modes Gun Game , Gunfight and Cranked are all set to appear in Season 2.
Gun Game is a classic Call of Duty party game where players participate in a free-for-all match where players get a new weapon for every kill. The first player to score a kill with each weapon wins, usually ending in something highly skilled like a crossbow or ballistic knife.
Gunfight is usually a round-based 2v2 mode taking place on small maps where players have the same weapons and equipment. Eliminating opponents or capturing the flag secures the round, and whoever wins six rounds first wins.
It has already been confirmed that Gunfight will appear in Modern Warfare 2 post-launch, and if this leak is to be believed, then it could appear in Season 2.
The same insider also revealed an icon for what looks like Cranked , where players have increased movement speed after each kill, but must keep getting kills until the timer runs out or they’ll explode, along with Warzone’s loot mode.
Leak suggests Castle map for Modern Warfare 2 Season 2
The classic Castle map may come with an update. Castle debuted in World at War and most recently appeared in Vanguard less than a year ago.
This leaked season 2 illustration features a Japanese fortress in the background, but it doesn’t quite look like the castle from world at war. We’ll just have to wait and see if Infinity Ward decides to bring back the Treyarch classic.
Ronin Operator Leaks from Modern Warfare 2 Season 2
A familiar face may be returning in Modern Warfare 2 as leaks have revealed Ronin could be making an appearance with the Season 2 update. This same leaked image clearly showed Ronin as the main Operator of the season, so if the leak turns out to be true, Ronin is guaranteed to arrive.
Call of Duty fans are open about their need for realistic military operatives in Modern Warfare 2, and Ronin falls into that category.
Will Modern Warfare 2 ranked play come in Season 2?
While we can’t yet confirm if Modern Warfare 2 Ranked Play will make it into Season 2, the developers have stated that the long-awaited mode is slated for release in 2023 . Ranked play made its way to Vanguard with the Season 2 update, so it’s possible Modern Warfare will have a similar timeline.
