What will the 5th season of Modern Warfare 2 bring us
Modern Warfare 2 Season 5 release date is set for Wednesday, August 2, 2023 at 9:00 AM PT / 12:00 PM ET / 5:00 PM BST . Activision confirmed this in the Season 5 roadmap blog.
Two new weapons will be coming to Modern Warfare 2 Season 5 with the update . The FR Avancer assault rifle shown in the image above will be available in the Season 5 Battle Pass. Meanwhile, the Carrack .300 Sniper Rifle will be the other starting weapon in the Battle Pass.
In addition, the developers revealed that the M13C assault rifle , a new submachine gun, sidearms, and melee weapons will be arriving throughout the season . This usually points to the release date for Season 5 of Reboot.
Season 5 of Modern Warfare 2 will have four new maps at launch , with one more coming mid-season:
- Punta Mar (Core) – launch
- Strike (Core) – launch
- Lounge (Gunfight) – launch
- Canal (Gunfight) – launch
- DRC-Zone 1 (Core) – Mid Season
Veteran CoD fans will recognize the CoD 4 Strike map as a returning map in Season 5 of Modern Warfare 2. Additionally, the DRC – Zone 1 map, due later this season, will bring DMZ Building 21 into multiplayer .
Season 5 of Modern Warfare 2 introduces a slew of new operatives to the game, including Graves, Oz, and Mila. The aforementioned trio is led by Graves, who played an important role in Modern Warfare 2’s campaign.

The developers also confirmed that other special operators will be coming soon that will bring famous rappers to the game “in honor of the fiftieth anniversary of hip-hop culture: Nicki Minaj, Snoop Dogg and 21 Savage” .
Additionally, a PlayStation Blog detailing Season 5 reveals that Lara Croft will appear as an Operator in Modern Warfare 2: “Play as legendary treasure hunter and video game icon Lara Croft in a new set of Operators coming midseason” .
The fifth season of Modern Warfare 2 will feature three new modes: Havoc , Big Capture the Flag , and Faceoff . In addition, the fifth season of MW2 will introduce many different firefight modes.

Modern Warfare 2’s Faction Showdown will kick off Season 5. The event will take place from 4 to 16 August.
It looks like players will need to select a faction and complete the challenge by earning 50 operative kills: “Go to the Events tab in the game menu to access the faction you wish to join. Then complete the challenge and other faction-specific challenges to earn all Event rewards.”
Whether you’re on the side of Task Force 141 or Shadow Company, players will be able to switch midway through. Completing the main quest will reward players with a calling card and an emblem.
The developers also revealed that each faction will have specific objectives to complete: “Completing objectives for any faction rewards you with items such as level skips, vehicle skins, and weapon blueprints for completing all objectives for the faction.”
The winning faction will receive either a free Soap Operator skin or a free Horangi skin, regardless of whether Task Force 141 or Shadow Company wins.
