Will Himmelmatt Expo be in Modern Warfare 2 ranked play?
On March 25, Treyarch announced that Himmelmatt Expo is part of the Control and Search & Destroy map pools in ranked play.
The developers said: “We heard a lot of talk about adding Himmelmatt Expo to the list of competitive maps. So how about trying it out in a ranked game? Control and Search & Destroy sound good? Your feedback and data will help @CODLeague and our teams decide if he will be added to the official pool!”
At the moment, there is no guarantee Himmelmatt Expo will appear in the CDL , but the competitive community has already tested the Season 2 Reloaded map to make sure it is viable.
Atlanta FaZe coach James “Crowder” Crowder tried out the Himmelmatt Expo card with several members of the CDL scene such as CoD pros, former players and talent.
After playing Himmelmatt Expo in all three modes for several hours, everyone concluded that he was much better than Fortress for control. In all games, respawn traps were much less noticeable, and the balance between offensive and defensive wins was much greater.
After watching the games live, Crowder said that the Himmelmatt Expo was “really good for Control, in the sense that I think it’s 100% as easy as shelling pears in Control. I think Search and Destroy is definitely worth talking about and testing.”
While he likes the Hardpoint mode, he doesn’t think HP is as “bad” as the other modes. Therefore, he believes that “two really good teams” should try it to find out more.
Former OpTic Texas trainer Ray ‘Rambo’ Lussier participated in testing and said, “I think we have a suitable replacement for Fortress Control and Fortress SND.” While it’s “good for Hardpoint”, he doesn’t think it’s worth replacing it with another Hardpoint card.
While first impressions have been positive, it’s up to professional players and ranked user feedback to decide if Himmelmatt Expo will be the next official competitive CoD map and replace Al Baghra Fortress in the long run.
