When do Warzone Caldera servers go down?
Activision has confirmed that Warzone Caldera will be shutting down, meaning players only have a limited amount of time to give the game a proper send-off.
The Warzone Caldera servers will go offline on September 21, 2023, as confirmed by Activision in an official blog post. After this date, the app will be removed from the PlayStation, Xbox and PC storefronts and players will no longer be able to access the game.
The news was announced just seven months after the original Warzone was rebranded as Warzone Caldera, at the same time as the launch of Warzone 2. By the time the servers go down for good, Warzone Caldera will only be active in its current state for 10 months.
Any bundles or skins purchased in Warzone Caldera will not carry over to Warzone 2 , but will still be available in Vanguard, Black Ops Cold War, and Modern Warfare (2019) multiplayer games.
The blog states that on September 21, “All Caldera gameplay, player progress, inventory, and online services will expire.” This means that battle royale-only players who do not own any of the mentioned multiplayer games will lose access to their purchases.
While the blog post announcing the end of Warzone Caldera did not go into detail, it did mention that the end of support would allow “teams to focus on future Call of Duty content, including the current free-to-play Warzone experience.”
With new Call of Duty 2023 and Warzone Mobile coming later this year, and plenty more Warzone 2 content like Season 5 to come, it looks like Activision thinks their resources are better spent elsewhere.
Interestingly, Activision’s decision came after Warzone Caldera had a slew of players at the start of the year who were disillusioned with Warzone 2.
