What are raids in Modern Warfare 2?

Thanks to the official Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer blog  , we know raids will be “a three-player co-op game that requires teamwork and strategic thinking to solve puzzles between bouts of intense combat.”

In a November 9 blog post on Warzone 2 and Modern Warfare 2 Season 1, the developers talked about raids: “Continuing the Modern Warfare II   campaign story, raids   will be the ultimate trio challenge, combining stealth, all-out action, and puzzle-solving challenges. Expect a full tactical overview and more raid details in the middle of the season.”

How to access raids in Modern Warfare 2

In order to access raids in Modern Warfare 2, you need to  get a raid mission  . This will allow you and your team to enter the raid for an entire week, and this can be done in three different ways.

Here are the different ways to earn raid missions:

• Complete a specific daily challenge in multiplayer or special operations.
• A place in the top 20 of the Battle Royale playlist.
• Use the last helicopter to evacuate the DMZ with at least $30,000 in cash.

The first raid, Atomgrad, will be released on December 14 along with Season 1 Reboot, and “new raid episodes are on the way.”

Atomgrad raid revealed in Modern Warfare 2

Infinity Ward showcased the Atomgrad raid at The Game Awards, showing Price, Gaz, and Farah infiltrating a flooded underground facility. Here, they float around the map unnoticed, destroying enemy AI before it turns into chaos.

In a December 12 blog post about the first season of Reboot, the developers revealed that the successful completion of this raid will unlock Gaza as a brand new Operator along with his Convoy Skin in Multiplayer and Special Ops.

If you purchase his Store Bundle after completing this raid, you will also receive the Grass Ops skin as a bonus reward. Players who complete the Atomgrad raid will also be able to access a more difficult playlist.

Modern Warfare 2 Raids gameplay details leaked

According to industry insider Tom Henderson, “It is clear that the first raid to appear in Modern Warfare 2 will include at least two puzzles; one focused on numbers and the other on a water maze.”

Henderson confirms the role of AI in raids. Infinity Ward has put a lot of effort into developing this new AI, and it’s no surprise that it’s at the forefront of several Modern Warfare 2 games.

The insider also shared details regarding the first raid set for Modern Warfare 2. Players will reportedly be tasked with infiltrating a submarine base, which will be a mission that highlights Modern Warfare 2’s water mechanic, matching up with what we’ve seen in Atom City. .

So far, data miners have discovered three separate raid-related missions. Curiously, Henderson also explains that the resulting images “indicate that raids can be created from scratch and on their own separate map.”

Can Modern Warfare 2 raids be played for free?

While Warzone 2 and the DMZ are free to play,  raids are part of Modern Warfare 2 and therefore cannot be played.

You’ll either need to purchase the Modern Warfare 2 Standard Edition or the Vault Edition, after which you’ll have access to the Campaign, Multiplayer, Spec Ops, and Raids.
