Verdansk will return with Call of Duty 2024
If Call of Duty continues its annual late October/early November release trend, that means Verdansk will return in December 2024.
Verdansk was removed from Warzone in 2021 and replaced by Caldera. This coincided with the release of the CoD Vangaurd Season 1 update. Warzone has gone through four maps, the current one being Urzikstan, which appeared in Modern Warfare 3 . Treyarch will continue its Black Ops series with the release of Black Ops Gulf War late next year. It’s been two years since Treyarch last developed a CoD game.
Ultimately, the decision was made to abandon “Caldera” and focus entirely on the new Warzone map , formerly called Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 , which debuted with the Al Mazrah map. While many fans were looking forward to a new Call of Duty: Warzone experience , many were sad to see Verdansk go and have since called for its return. Now it looks like fans will get what they want as a new leak suggests Call of Duty: Warzone is bringing back Verdansk.
If Verdansk does return to Call of Duty: Warzone , it’s anyone’s guess what will happen to the game’s current map, Urzikstan. Caldera was a big mistake for Warzone , and Al Mazra wasn’t particularly popular. A lot of fans seem to like the new Urzikstan map, so some may be sad that it’s being removed. It’s possible that Verdansk and Urzikstan will exist in Call of Duty: Warzone at the same time, although usually larger battle royale maps will replace the existing ones in Warzone .
For many Call of Duty fans , the return of Verdansk has always been a matter of “when,” not “if.” After all, Activision is clearly aware of Verdansk’s popularity, hence the decision to release the upcoming Warzone Mobile with Verdansk. The huge success of Fortnite , which recently brought back its original battle royale map, has made Verdansk’s return even more likely, as it’s a time-tested strategy for bringing lapsed fans back into the fold.
While the report doesn’t give a specific release date, it does suggest that if CoD 2024 follows the traditional November release, then it’s likely that “Verdansk should return in December 2024.”
