The best weapons in Modern Warfare 2: Ranked List

Just because a weapon is lower on the list doesn’t mean it’s ineffective. You will be able to succeed with almost every weapon on the list, you just have to change your play style.

10. ISO Hemlock

After being introduced in the Season 2 update, the ISO Hemlock Assault Rifle made a name for itself by beating some of the top tier weapons to earn a place on this list.

Some might be put off by the Hemlock’s low fire rate, but it more than makes up for it with its extremely low recoil. It also has a medium hit, making each bullet deal more damage than its rivals.

Since its introduction, it has been so powerful that Modern Warfare 2 players  have begged the developers to ban the weapon from ranked play. In Season 3 Reloaded, he received a significant nerf that dropped him several spots on our list.

9. SP-R 208 is the best marksman rifle in Modern Warfare 2

Fast aiming is more prevalent than ever in Modern Warfare 2, and while sniper rifles are a powerful choice, it’s the SP-R 208 Marksman Rifle that appeals to most players.

ISO 45 arrived with the Modern Warfare 2 Season 4 update, and the SMG got off to a good start in its debut season. Despite having a unique scope that might take some time to get to, it has one of the fastest TTKs in the SMG category.

We put it in eighth place for now, but the ISO 45 has what it takes to challenge the Lachmann sub and even the Vaznev-9k higher on the list.

7. Kastov-74u

Almost no one argues that the Kastov-74u assault rifle is one of the best weapons in Modern Warfare 2. With low recoil, high mobility, and ultra-fast kill times, you simply can’t go wrong with the Kastov-74u. .

This assault rifle is more like a submachine gun, with stopping power capable of surpassing both weapon classes at the best ranges. Even though he got a little nerf back in Season 1 of Reloaded, he’s still a contender.

6. FJX Imperium (Intervention) is the best sniper rifle in Modern Warfare 2

Intervention is the royalty of Call of Duty, and fans will be happy to hear it’s a real monster in Modern Warfare 2 Season 4. Appearing in Season 3 as the FJX Imperium, this classic sniper has it all. She has enough punch to consistently one-hit enemies from a distance, as well as mobility and ADS speed, making her a solid mid-range option as well.

5 Lachmann Sub (MP5)

MP5s are traditionally a great choice for any Call of Duty, and that remains true with Modern Warfare 2’s Lachmann Sub. It has just about everything you want in a submachine gun, including a fast TTK up close. It’s also forgiving, so you don’t even have to be an ultra-accurate player to get the most out of it. Of course, you won’t win long-range firefights, so use it as a traditional SMG and you won’t have a problem dominating Modern Warfare 2’s multiplayer.

4. Kastov 762

The Kastov 762 assault rifle from Modern Warfare 2 is an improved version of the Kastov 545, albeit a little harder to use.

What makes the Kastov 762 so effective is its damage output, with which you will win almost any head-to-head firefight at around 38 meters away. The limitations of 6v6 multiplayer make it a near-perfect choice, just a bit harder to use than some of the other options on this list.

3. M4

The M4 has been a consistently powerful weapon in every Call of Duty game, and of course it’s a great choice in Modern Warfare 2 as well  .

Being the first assault rifle you unlock, and its platform leading to other great options, there’s no reason not to give the M4 a try when you’re just getting started and collecting your first gear. But even if you play for a while, it’s so consistently reliable that you’ll almost never feel at a disadvantage. While it doesn’t stand out in any category, it’s versatile and easy enough to use that it more than deserves a spot on the list of the best weapons in MW2.

2. Vaznev-9k is the best submachine gun in Modern Warfare 2

The Vaznev-9k is a powerful yet easy-to-use submachine gun that will serve you well on any map and in any situation.

Like the M4, the Vaznev-9k has almost everything – solid damage, high mobility and low recoil. It has become a popular ranked submachine gun, and it’s certainly easy to see why.

Not only can it take out players at close range, but it also has a solid range so it can more than hold its own at medium range as well. Regardless of the map or mode, Vaznev will always serve you well.

1. TAQ-56 is the best weapon in Modern Warfare 2 at the moment.

The TAQ-56 or SCAR is the staple of CoD and is the best weapon in Modern Warfare 2 right now.

An absolute classic, the SCAR is present in Modern Warfare 2 under the name TAQ-56, and players are happy to see that it is still at the top of the meta. The AR quickly came into the spotlight thanks to its excellent range, incredibly low recoil, and unique steel sight.

Assault rifles are incredibly powerful in Modern Warfare 2, and the TAQ-56 can dominate both up close and from a distance. The weapon was slightly nerfed in Season 3’s Reloaded, but that didn’t knock it off the top spot in Season 4.

It’s no surprise that the TAQ dominates ranked play and maintains its status as the best weapon in Modern Warfare 2 at the start of Season 4.
