Ready to learn more about Black Ops 6?
Activision has officially confirmed that Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will be a new title in the mega-blockbuster Call of Duty, scheduled for release in 2024.
While full details about Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 won’t be revealed until June, rumors point to the game being set during the first Gulf War or the early ’90s. It was also confirmed that Microsoft plans to show the game’s directive after the big Xbox Games Showcase on June 9. There are rumors that the game will be included on Game Pass on its release day, which is a big change for the series.
Black Ops 6 is expected to release in October 2024 after Inverse reported that Xbox’s Phil Spencer told staff that “it’s safe to assume that another Call of Duty will be released this October.” This was also reported by Insider Gaming and The Verge.
According to a report from Windows Central, the 2024 game could “rely on more traditional military combat technologies and familiar Black Ops gadgets, as opposed to the current and near-term technologies we’ve seen in Modern Warfare and some other recent Call of Duty games.”
The Black Ops 6 website has confirmed that fan-favorite character Adler , one of the main characters from 2020’s Black Ops Cold War, is set to return. Additionally, Insider Gaming reported on February 5 that BO6’s story mode will reportedly feature a Far Cry-style open world, including fast travel systems and vehicles.
While MW3’s Zombies mode has received positive reviews, fans are looking forward to a traditional survival experience in Zombies mode, a world in which Treyarch is considered the founding father.
Additionally, popular Zombies content creator MrDalekJD shared some leaks regarding the undead mode for BO6, saying that there could be two maps with rounds at launch, as well as a separate mode.
Leaker “alanthe Third_90” on X shared code from Modern Warfare 3 about BO6’s Zombies mode, which referenced similar elements from MW3’s Zombies mode, suggesting that the open world loot format could return alongside the classic round-based format .
Following on from MW2, Warzone and MW3, every future Call of Duty game will be developed on “one unified engine” – an enhanced version of the IW engine .
Speaking to the Washington Post, then Call of Duty CEO Johanna Faries confirmed that the next Black Ops will be on the same engine as the Modern Warfare games, it will still be different as they want Treyarch games to feel like Treyarch.
Since Black Ops 6 is scheduled to release at the end of October, there is a possibility that beta testing could take place in late September or early October.
