Modern Warfare 3: MW3 and Warzone Patch Notes January 23rd.

While Warzone only received a few needed bug fixes,  Modern Warfare 3  received a huge balance of weapons and attachments to fix weapon performance following the mid-season update.

For the first time since MW3’s release, Aftermarket Parts have undergone a major overhaul to update how each one works after the developers realized they weren’t “functioning as intended.” These include the  JAK Ettin Double Barrel Kit  ,  JAK Thunder LMG Kit  , and  JAK Signal Burst  .

GLOBAL

CUSTOMIZATION

  • Operator skins and blueprints that are not available in the store can now be purchased directly from the Armory.
    • Note. This does not include limited time items, upcoming items, or discounted items.

MULTIPLAYER

UIX

  • Fixed an issue that caused camouflage challenges to appear multiple times in the activity report.
  • Selecting the Carrack .300 11K Optical Attachment will no longer unexpectedly take the player back to the menu.
  • Reworked the descriptions of several attachments to better reflect their true effect.

WEAPONS AND ACCESSORIES

Many of the balance changes in today’s update relate to spare parts. In the next section you will find ideas from our design team to explain the purpose of some of the changes.

One of our design team’s goals is to create conversion kits that offer players fun and unexpected experiences with familiar weapons. Part of this goal is to maintain a balance where conversion kits enhance a weapon’s capabilities without overshadowing its original role. Based on your feedback and review of recently released aftermarket parts, we have made significant changes that you can experience today. Looking to the future, we’ve refined our approach to balancing spare parts to ensure they’re powerful, worth the effort, and most importantly, fun!

“Assault rifles”

      • Increased the effectiveness of weapon impact control by 10%.
      • Increased recoil control effect by 10%.
      • Reduced the delay when firing in bursts from 120 ms to 90 ms (-25%).

While the JAK Flare Pack has lethal one-shot potential, its recoil often limits its effectiveness at most common combat ranges. In addition, the delay in the queue made it difficult to draw a follow-up queue to confirm the kill. Today’s changes address these shortcomings, making this replacement part a better option.

The JAK Thunder LMG kit is designed to take you into a firefight and increase your rate of fire to deadly RPMs. Today’s changes allow these weapons to reach their maximum damage potential much faster. Release! Equip your JAK with BFB or off-the-shelf drag attachments and pre-fire to your heart’s content for maximum performance.

    • Melee medium damage range reduced from 22.9 to 20.3 m (-11%).

    • Headshot damage multiplier increased from 1.2x to 1.3x (+8%).
    • Lower torso damage multiplier reduced from 1.1x to 1x (-9%).
    • Lower arm damage multiplier reduced from 1.1x to 1x (-9%).
    • Hand damage multiplier reduced from 1.1x to 1x (-9%).
    • Upper leg damage multiplier increased from 0.9x to 1x (+11%).

    • JAK Ettin Double Barrel Kit
      • The trigger mechanism has been redesigned, allowing two bullets to be fired simultaneously per shot.

Upon release in week six, the JAK Ettin Double Barrel Kit did not work properly. In this update, this conversion kit has been redesigned to truly fire two bullets at once (it’s no longer a two-round burst), which has noticeably improved kill times. In addition, we have significantly reduced the scope spread and recoil of this conversion kit, allowing for greater control in close to mid-range engagements where the Ettin needs to shine.

      • The penalty for sprinting and shooting has been reduced by 10%.
      • Aiming time penalty reduced by 7%.
      • The penalty for spreading fire from the hip has been reduced by 20%.

True to its namesake, the JAK Headhunter Conversion Carbine is most lethal with precision shots to the head and upper torso. Today’s changes increase his lethality and reduce his fire lag to improve his ability to duel at range. We want this aftermarket piece to feel more like a maneuverable mid-range assault rifle than a submachine gun; we expect it to be able to outperform the base Rival-9 at close range. Add attachments for damage range, bullet speed, and recoil control to highlight its strengths.

    • Detonation upon impact within a 5m radius will now occur with a reduced detection radius.

Previously, the Breach Drone could not explode when colliding with a player within the first 5 meters of him. It can now detonate with a reduced detection radius in this range, responding to reports that the drone is “passing through” enemies. Functionality beyond 5 meters remains unchanged.

Warlord Randomization

  • The Dokkaebi Weekly Challenge has come to an end and will now select a random Warlord at the start of each match.
  • Players can see which commander is active on the tactical map. Plan accordingly!
  • Players can also complete the Act 4 mission “Storm the Castle” by defeating any warlord while the mission is active.

Warlord: Dokkaebi

  • Players will no longer be able to destroy Dokkaebi with one shot while using multiple weapons.

  • Fixed an issue where the Champion’s Quest tracker would show progress toward obtaining a new token when it was enabled.
  • Fixed an issue where the Bouncebackalicious daily challenge was not tracking self-respawns.
  • Fixed an issue where perk packs would not be equipped correctly when selecting gear.
  • Fixed an issue where the third element of Champion’s Quest would spawn without destroying the gunship.
  • Fixed an issue where the Champion’s Quest safe was not marked on the map.
