Modern Warfare 3: company, characters and storyline.

The company’s Modern Warfare 3 is a direct sequel to  2022’s Modern Warfare 2 , following the rebooted story’s new timeline. While details about Modern Warfare 3’s plot following the reveal are sparse, we do know that classic Call of Duty villain Makarov is returning to wreak havoc on a global scale.

Infinity Ward explained that while Makarov is not the same character we saw in the original Modern Warfare trilogy, this version will have a story with Price and Task Force 141 that will be explored in the campaign.

Makarov and his private army would carry out false flag attacks around the world, placing the blame on Farah’s Urzikstan Liberation Front and Task Force 141.

You’ll play as both members of Connie Makarov’s Squad and Task Force 141, committing atrocities and dealing with the consequences while trying to prevent more.

Confirmed Modern Warfare 3 characters:

  • Captain John Price
  • Vladimir Makarov
  • Farah Karim
  • Colonel Shepard
  • Kyle “Gas” Garrick
  • John “Soap” McTavish
  • Simon “Ghost” Riley
  • Keith Laswell
  • Alex Keller (possibly)

Alex was a main character in Modern Warfare 2019, but did not participate in the MW2 campaign and instead appeared in the Atomgrad Raid storyline.

Modern Warfare 3 locations confirmed so far:

  • Verdansk
  • Middle East
  • Siberia
  • Saint Petersburg
  • London

Modern Warfare 3 is bringing players back to Verdansk. While it’s unlikely that you’ll be able to explore the entire Warzone map again, missions will take place in specific areas such as the prison, and you’ll be given free reign to explore the area and complete the mission in any way you see fit.

Not every mission will follow the semi-open world format, but the developers said that these levels will allow players to bring their own strategies and playstyles.

Modern Warfare 3 company missions at the moment:

Operation 627 :

Starting with the title, this is a clear throwback to the original Modern Warfare 2 mission “The Gulag”, where Soap and Task Force 141 broke into the prison to rescue Prisoner 627, who turned out to be none other than Captain Price.

The mission takes place at night and will start on a submarine. You’ll have to get to the top of the Warzone prison before using your night vision goggles to take out all the guards without being seen using silenced weapons . Upon entering the prison, you wreak havoc through a riot, killing both prisoners and guards as you descend into the lower levels of the Gulag.

Once you reach the base, you’ll come to a heavily defended locked chamber that apparently houses Makarov, but the gameplay demo ends right before this information is revealed.

Steal:

A title inspired by the classic Hijacked bonus mission from CoD 4, Hijack picks up where Modern Warfare 2’s post-credits scene left off: an unknown character collects a 3D-printed pistol during a commercial flight.

The attacker receives the message “No Russians,” Makarov’s famous line from the original Modern Warfare 2, and then flees his seat with two other armed passengers. In Modern Warfare 3 you will take control of terrorists who have hijacked and destroyed a Russian airliner.

The aim of this attack will be to place the blame on Task Force 141 and Farah’s forces, and a later mission will have you playing as TF141, trying to clear yourself of any involvement. This mission also features a Groundhog Day style mechanic where if you fail, time will rewind and you’ll get shot again.

That’s all we know about the Modern Warfare 3 campaign, but we’ll be sure to keep you posted
