Modern Warfare 3: February 21st Patch Notes.

The latest updates for Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone address issues with rogue players, weapon balance, and gameplay.

 Whether playing in MW3 Ranked Play, Warzone Ranked Resurgence matches or standard public matches, players have noticed that more and more players are using cheats. The updates, released on February 21, 2024, address various issues in  Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3  and  Warzone , as well as balance adjustments to weapons and equipment.

GLOBAL

RICOCHET ANTICHEAT

RICOCHET’s anti-fraud team is monitoring an uptick in scam reports in the community. We are currently testing additional security updates; however the following updates have just been rolled out:

  • Disabled game code for time-limited perks (such as super speed).

As a result of monitoring activity over the weekend, and targeted reactivation of this updated system, the RICOCHET team was able to identify and suspend over 6,000 accounts for fraud and hacking between February 16th and February 20th.

Our team continues to work on security updates to address issues across various modes of Call of Duty: Warzone and Modern Warfare III.

CUSTOMIZATION

  • Error correction
    • The “Dragon Scale” camouflage has been moved from the “Special” category to the “Event” category.
    • Fixed Tracer placeholder name for TAQ Evolvere Crocodile blueprint.
    • Fixed an issue where the Fire Breather skin for Wheelson-HS (Killstreak) would not appear.

MULTIPLAYER

UIX

  • Error correction
    • Resolved various issues that caused the player to unexpectedly return to the menu.
      • View the “Horde Hunt” event.
      • Editing custom mods in Gunsmith.
      • Equipping emblems in the “Last Chance” tooltip of the Battle Pass.
    • When saving a custom mod in Gunsmith, some camouflages are no longer removed.
    • Killstreak icons on the UI no longer turn red when killed by a cruise missile.

PROGRESS

  • Error correction
    • Corrected criteria for several challenges to properly track progress.
      • JAK Ferocity Carbine Kit Release Test.
      • Camouflage test “The operator kills without hurting you.”

CARDS

  • Subbase
    • Further refine the boundary of the Hardpoint object in the Warehouse (P3) to prevent capture from an unintended location.
  • Underground crossing
    • Adjusted spawn points to prevent players from spawning outside of the playable area at HQ.

MODES

  • Control
    • During the transition to the final round, the wrong team will no longer be shown as defending.
  • Thug
    • Resolved an issue where the flag capture point would not appear during overtime.
  • Team game with weapons
    • Resolved an issue that caused players to get stuck without a weapon.
  • War
    • Fixed an issue that caused the player to lose control after using a turret and a smoke drop at the same time.

    • The initial recoil of the gun when firing has been reduced.
    • Recoil when shooting has been reduced.
    • Melee medium damage range increased from 34.3 m to 36.8 m (+7%).
    • Increased average damage range from 41.9 to 41.9 m (+12%).

      • Sight spread reduced by 20%.
      • Increased rate of fire from 357 to 500 rounds/min (+40%).
      • Number of damage pellets reduced from 8 to 5 (-38%).

      • Increased aiming time from 550 ms to 580 ms (+5%).

    • Resolved an issue where experience was not awarded when killing certain types of zombie enemies with the Pack-A-Punched V-R11.

“Melee”

  • Tonfa
    • Resolved an issue that inadvertently prevented the Pack-A-Punched Tonfa from dealing its intended damage.

UI/UX

  • Resolved an issue that caused players to get stuck when selecting TAQ Evolvere “Full Stop Blackcell” or DM-56 “Grume Blackcell” blueprints in insured weapon slots.
  • Fixed an issue that caused skin attachments to be removed from weapons in insured weapon slots when players added them to loadouts.

STABILITY

  • Added various crash and stability fixes.

  • Advanced UAV
    • The size of the promising UAV has been increased by 2.5 times. 
    • This ensures that all of Urzikstan will be in view of the player who summons it.
  • Shock stick
    • Tactical Camera and Handheld Radar upgrades are now affected by enemy Shock Sticks.

    • Melee damage range increased from 35.56 to 48.26 meters.
    • Minimum damage increased from 20 to 22.

Gameplay Changes

    • The total number of redeployed drones has been reduced from eight to five.

    • Players will now encounter fewer UAVs in loot.

  • Kill and help SR
    • Only the following players will receive kill credit and assists if a player is eliminated:
      • The player who knocked down the eliminated player.
      • Players who dealt damage to an eliminated player shortly before they were knocked down.
    • Players who did not deal damage to a destroyed player shortly before they were defeated will instead receive SR for killing a teammate when their teammates go down and destroy the enemy.

This change is being made to ensure the competitive integrity of Kill & Assist SR by removing the ability for players to “tap” downed enemies to exaggerate their SR advantages.

This change will also help streamline gameplay by preventing glitches caused by prolonging eliminations before “pressing”.

With these changes and the increased level of Squadmate Kill SR in Season 2, the gameplay should be just as rewarding and much smoother.SR (Skill Rating)SR Kill and Assist
Only the following players will receive Kill and Assist credit if a player is eliminated:-Player who knocked down an eliminated player-Players who damaged an eliminated player shortly before he was knocked down-Players , who did not deal damage to a destroyed player shortly before they were shot down, will instead receive SR for killing a squadmate when their teammates go down and destroy the enemy.

UI/UX

  • Resolved an issue that resulted in players being incorrectly shown the penalty screen when disconnected from matches.
    • Players who disconnect from matches will lose their SR entry fee and should not expect additional SR penalties.

ERROR CORRECTION

  • Fixed an issue where the regular gas mask could not replace the durable gas mask.
  • Fixed an issue where the cover animation would continue on a lift or cable.
  • Fixed an issue where special gear perks would disappear after placing another perk pack.
  • Fixed an issue where the ray gun would not appear after completing a puzzle.
  • Fixed collision issues with various elements that players could use.
  • Fixed an issue that prevented the player from using the backup pistol underwater while holding a melee weapon.
