Modern Warfare 2 Twitch viewership rises to 100,000 daily concurrent viewers
With the Season 2 update coming out on February 15th, it’s safe to say that most players would agree it was worth the wait.
Since the start of Season 2 , Modern Warfare 2’s Twitch viewership has reached impressive numbers, surpassing 100,000 concurrent viewers daily. These numbers indicate a sharp increase from what has been achieved since the launch of the game.
Many MW2 players seem to attribute this new interest in the game to the advent of ranked play: “It’s crazy what a good rating can do for a game.”
The positive feedback and overall high quality of Modern Warfare 2’s Ranked Play mode is the driving force, but there are other factors as well.
When it comes to the rise in popularity of competitive Call of Duty and CDL games, players are hoping this will lead to new changes and initiatives from Activision to support the community.
As one player put it, “Hopefully this isn’t just a phase and Acti realizes there’s a lot of interest in rankings/competitions as well if they just invest in it.” In the end, most agreed that “streaming is the biggest and best marketing”.
The rise in Modern Warfare 2 viewership on Twitch is a positive sign for fans of the franchise who are hoping Season 3 can reach the same heights.
