The Call of Duty team has announced that the Modern Warfare 2 Season 2 update is scheduled for Wednesday, February 15 , 2022 . These seasonal updates typically arrive around 10:00 AM PT / 1:00 PM ET / 6:00 PM GMT.
Modern Warfare 2 Ranked Game Coming to Season 2
Modern Warfare 2’s ranked game is coming with Season 2, according to the developers . Treyarch also confirmed that the ranked game will indeed arrive on launch day on February 15, and not later in the season as part of a mid-season update.
Datamining and a new attachment added to the game suggest that the Vepr-12 crossbow and shotgun could make an appearance in Modern Warfare 2 season 2.
Infinity Ward has yet to officially reveal the modes coming to Modern Warfare 2 Season 2 and the announcement will be made soon.
However, the fan-favorite Gun Game , Gunfight , and Cranked modes are rumored to make their way into Season 2, according to rumors.
Modern Warfare 2 Season 2 Hardcore Mode
Since players are not happy with having Tier 1 in Modern Warfare 2, a full-blown hardcore mode is being added to MW2.
Tier 1 felt more like the realism mode featured in Modern Warfare 2019, while the hardcore mode will retain its original identity from previous CoD titles
Maps of the second season of Modern Warfare 2
On December 5, key images for Modern Warfare 2 Season 2 were revealed in leaks, convincing players that the classic Castle map could be coming with the update. However, it turns out that the leaked images matched the new Ashika Island Resurgence map for Warzone 2.
Call of Duty fans are open about their need for realistic military operatives in Modern Warfare 2, and Ronin falls into that category. Ronin will appear with the update of the second season. Previously leaked images clearly showed Ronin as the season’s top operative, further pointing to the appearance of Ronin.
Modern Warfare 2 UI Update Coming in Season 2
Fortunately, the developers have listened and are making some changes in the Season 2 update.
These changes include the following:
- Improved navigation and organization of the Camo menu.
- Improved Social tab including improved channel switching and player mute.
- New “My Packages” screen
- Quick Gear items from Battlepass, My Bundles and Store.
- Grid preview in shop and gunsmith
- Improved clarity of attachment blocking logic in Gunsmith.
- And many other bug fixes.
Modern Warfare 2 Season 2 Perk Balance
The devs say they’ve listened to player feedback about “bonus perk times”, specifically the Ghost.
To address this issue, they have decided to reduce the time it takes for players to get both bonus and ultimate perks, meaning that players will get the Ghost earlier in matches, which they feel better supports those who want to play more aggressively.
Modern Warfare 2 Sound Fixes
Sound in Modern Warfare 2 will receive some fixes. This should make it easier for players to hear enemies and other audio cues through objects like walls.
