Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2: The Haunting
The Haunting event in Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 will release on October 17, 2023
The invasion of demons from Diablo 4 into the world of Call of Duty has not stopped on Lilith. The developers are preparing a grandiose in-game event that will change the familiar appearance of Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone.
Haunting officially launches mid-season, with both games featuring maps, modes, Halloween-themed events, and more. Prepare for spine-chilling horror and brutal combat at launch with the release of four new multiplayer maps, a Battle Pass with devilishly exciting new operators and weapon blueprints, and more.
The Haunting will include the return of favorite modes such as Zombie Royale, a revamped Vondel, several MW2 multiplayer maps, new weapons , and plenty of Halloween-themed content for players to enjoy.
The upcoming Soul Capture event in Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 Season 6 Reloaded will bring an exciting twist to the Season 3 Trophy Hunt event. When you destroy a player, they will drop a Soul that you can pick up, which increases your overall score.
Exchange these souls for exclusive items in the Events tab. To earn more souls, fight enemies in both games and unlock themed rewards as you redeem souls.
Warzone 2’s The Haunting: Operation Nightmare in the DMZ and Battle Royale will bring significant changes to Al Mazra. In the spirit of the Halloween season, this map will now have a nighttime version.
During this operation, players will have a great opportunity to hunt creepy creatures, go to mysterious locations, destroy valuable targets and solve a whole range of problems. Successfully completing these objectives will earn you exclusive rewards, including a unique weapon blueprint.
Additionally, according to the Roadmap, Al Mazra will also have a new look for several attractions, including a redesign of Marshlands and another one called Parted Seas, featuring huge boats.
The limited-time Zombie Royale mode returns to Warzone 2 The Haunting with new features, as well as some favorite elements from previous versions.
In this mode, destroyed Operators become zombies and are no longer sent to the Gulag. Instead, they gain unique abilities by tracking living Operators. The only way to return players to human form is to use syringes scattered around the map.
As the match progresses, the corpses of all observer operators are resurrected as zombies, adding more undead opponents. Squads can still function with some members acting as zombies, allowing for a variety of teamwork strategies. However, destroyed zombies remain out of the game, and players must defeat both the living and the undead to win.
Not only Al Mazra, but also the Vondel Revival will undergo a nighttime transformation. This includes the introduction of a nighttime version called “Vondead”, where players will battle a zombie outbreak on a revamped map filled with burning vehicles, destroyed shops and other changes such as “ghost weather”.
The CoD blog has reported the existence of demonic altars in the vicinity of Vondead, which appear to be the source of energy for the events taking place. These mysterious altars are intriguingly connected to the notorious myth and legend of “The Butcher”, a famous character in the Diablo IV universe.
In addition to the introduction of zombies to the map and significant changes to the maps with their night variants, The Haunting event will also introduce unique gear and items exclusively for Warzone 2.
Haunted Box
In Al Mazra and Wondead, zombies will occasionally drop mysterious loot boxes, which can also be found throughout the maps. When opened, these crates contain plates, ammo, and gear, creating a unique combination of armor and ammo crates.
Blood Seeker Grenade
Designed like a vampire bat, the Bloodseeker grenade sticks to enemies, highlighting them in thermal images, useful for night missions.
Scary jumps
Loot containers in Al Mazra and Vondead now bring back the infamous jump scare surprise, causing players to experience sudden fear while searching for loot.
Modern Warfare 2’s mid-season update will feature two updated versions of the Halloween multiplayer map: El Asilo , which “celebrates Día de Muertos”, and ” The Embassy , facing a zombie onslaught”.
Along with the map changes in Modern Warfare 2, The Haunting update will also bring back Grind mode and some Halloween-themed features to a select number of classic modes:
- Phantom Domination : In this version of Domination mode, expect the presence of scarecrows serving as markers for each flag.
- Haunting Kill Confirmed and Grind: Instead of tokens, collect skulls in Grind and Kill Confirmed.
- Haunted Drop Zone: Guard and maintain control of the drop zone to accumulate points for your team, but be careful when accessing crates as they may contain spooky items.
- Ghosts of the Infected: Zombies gather around the Infected, and those players who become infected turn into zombies.
