How to Avoid Hackers in Modern Warfare 2 Rated Play
A tweet from Aroma revealed that if you found out the hacker’s name in your match, you can exit by opening the Lobby Channel from the menu and selecting “Leave Party”. This can only be done after the lobby is full and the game is about to start.
While Modern Warfare 2’s ranked play doesn’t allow players to leave after they’ve been placed in a lobby, he explained that you can still back out if you act quickly.
Step-by-step guide to defend against hackers in Modern Warfare 2 ranked game:
- Wait until there are a maximum of eight players in the lobby.
- Select “Channels” in the upper right corner of the screen, indicated by the headphone icon.
- Click on the lobby channel.
- Tap “Settings” at the top of the screen marked with a gear symbol.
- Select “Leave Party” and then “Yes”.
- You will now return to the Ranked Games menu and are ready to start searching for a new game.
This handy trick does not result in a loss of skill rating or the usual disqualification for leaving a match early. However, it does have some disadvantages.
First, you need to recognize the gamertag of a hacker in a lobby, and there is no other way to know if someone is cheating on someone. Another problem is that this requires you to act quickly, as there is a window of a few seconds to successfully exit.
If you make a mistake with the time, a ranked match will start and you will have to fight the cheater in normal mode.
But it’s worth keeping in mind any player you meet who uses cheats so that if their name comes up again, you can quickly use this trick to get away.
