First-ever $30,000 Warzone 2 DMZ Gauntlet Tournament: Schedule, Format, and Prize Pool

As Warzone 2 players wait for closed matches to arrive, most of the competition, such as the $100,000 OpTic Texas tournament, is a 2 X 2 kill race . However, Activision is doing something completely different with the DMZ tournament.

DMZ is Warzone 2’s sandbox mode, where players are given free rein in Al Mazra to fight other players and AI, complete missions, collect valuable weapons and loot, and successfully evacuate to save their gear.

Activision has announced that the DMZ Gauntlet will take place in January.

Warzone 2 DMZ Gauntlet Schedule

The Warzone 2 DMZ Gauntlet begins  Tuesday, January 17  at  12:00 PM PT / 3:00 PM ET / 8:00 PM GMT.

While there is no confirmed location to watch the tournament, we expect the broadcast to take place on the  Call of Duty Twitch channel .

Warzone 2 DMZ Gauntlet Format

Little is known about the DMZ Gauntlet format yet, but Activision has confirmed that  16 trios  will be doing “various tasks in the DMZ.”

It looks like the format will be less focused on killing other players, but we’ll have to wait for more information to see what’s in store for the competition.

After Activision solicited suggestions on who to invite, a slew of big names, from top Warzone 2 players like Aydan and Jukeyz to DMZ-focused creators like Westie, MrDalekJD and GeekyPastimes. .

Pro player Tommy said that DMZ streamers should be captains as “it’s their mode and they deserve to be represented in a big tournament.”

Warzone 2 DMZ Gauntlet Prize Pool

The DMZ Gauntlet in Warzone 2 will have  a $30,000 pool  , but they have yet to confirm how the prize will be split among the 16 participating trios.
