Cheaters dominate the MW2 ranked game.
Warzone 2 players are concerned that the upcoming competitive experience will be similar to MW2’s cheat-infested ranked play mode.
Popular Warzone 2 content creator IceManIsaac expressed his concern about Warzone 2’s upcoming ranked mode on Twitter, saying “You have to pay $59.99 to play Modern Warfare 2 ranked and cheaters are CRAZY… what does that mean for the future of free to play ? Warzone 2 ranked?
Despite cheat sellers being required to pay Activision $3 million in damages after the developers sued, cheaters continue to ruin the online experience for both Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2.
The situation is exacerbated when cheaters cause trouble in MW2 ranked play, as this is supposed to be a competitive space where players test their skills in a fair and balanced environment. As players feel that cheaters are polluting the space, IceManIsaac and others are concerned about Warzone 2’s ranked mode.
IceManIsaac put forward several suggestions to keep the issue from being noticeable, mentioning the South Korean “gov ID associated with only one account” system, as well as potentially forcing players to pay for a rating to “keep off some repeat scammers”.
The content creator also hopes Warzone 2’s ranked mode will have “a system where if you die to someone later found to be a scammer, your SR loss will be negated.”
It will be extremely difficult to completely rid both games of cheaters, but there are many suggestions in the comment below the post, such as a “minimum level” for the game, which can reduce the number of cheaters, especially at higher ranks.
