According to Windows Central and Insider Gaming, Call of Duty 2024 will be called Call of Duty: Black Ops Gulf War. However, following the Xbox Games Showcase announcement , some players think they have discovered a CoD 2024 title that doesn’t match the original report.
Of course, plans always change, so we’ll have to wait for the official announcement to find out. Following on from the previous Black Ops CoD game, which was set during the Cold War, the development team intends to continue exploring historical events.
Call of Duty 2024 is expected to launch in October 2024 after Inverse reported that Xbox’s Phil Spencer told staff that “it’s safe to assume that another Call of Duty will be released in October of this year.”
Treyarch has been confirmed to be developing Call of Duty 2024 . Treyarch’s return as the lead development team was first reported by Bloomberg on January 22, 2023, and has been confirmed by multiple sources.
However, Raven Software is also set to be involved in the game’s development, as Insider Gaming reported that the team behind Warzone will be taking on the CoD 2024 campaign.
Following the leak of Warzone Mobile files relating to the Battle of Mogadishu , a report from Windows Central states that Call of Duty 2024 will ” take place during the Gulf War ” and will “focus on the CIA’s examination of the United States’ role in the conflict.” According to their report, the next game in the Black Ops series could “draw on more traditional military combat technologies and familiar Black Ops gadgets . “
On February 5, Insider Gaming shared some details about the CoD 2024 campaign. Developed by Raven Software, the campaign features a Far Cry -style open world , featuring fast travel systems and vehicles.
Additionally, a report from Insider Gaming states that “several Black Ops characters will return to the game,” including fan favorite Adler, who was one of the main characters in the 2020 Black Ops Cold War story.
Even though MW3’s Zombies mode has received positive reviews, fans are looking forward to a traditional survival experience in Zombies mode, a world in which Treyarch is considered the founding father.
Additionally, popular Zombies content creator MrDalekJD shared some leaks regarding the undead mode in Call of Duty 2024, saying that there could be two maps as well as a separate mode at launch.
Following on from MW2, Warzone and MW3, every future Call of Duty game will be developed on “one unified engine” – an enhanced version of the IW engine.
Speaking to the Washington Post, then-Call of Duty general manager Johanna Faries confirmed that the next Black Ops will be on the same engine as the Modern Warfare games, it will still be different as they want Treyarch games to be similar to Treyarch’s style.
