Best Ranked Weapons in Modern Warfare 2 Season 2
Ranked play includes 4v4 games in Hardpoint, Control and Search & Destroy modes. Your role in your team of four will largely depend on your choice of primary weapon.
TAQ-56

The TAQ-56 is an easy-to-handle assault rifle for those who prefer long-range weapons with easy recoil.
As with any competitive weapon in Modern Warfare 2 , mobility and high aiming speed are vital. So the Demo Cleanshot Grip and TV Xline Pro come in handy as they boost ADS speed among other mobility improvements.
The TAQ-56 also offers tons of variations and you can swap certain attachments. For example, 5.56 High Velocity, TV Cardinal Stock, FSS Sharkfin 90 and Comando Foregrip cartridges are also popular TAQ-56 attachments. Feel free to find the combination that works for you.
If you don’t want to use 5.56 High Velocity ammunition, we suggest using the VLK Koloss Flash Hider muzzle.
Also, it’s important to note that pros are forced to use the Tundra Pro’s 17.5″ barrel as a gentlemen’s agreement, but many rated game enthusiasts agree that these weapons are better without a barrel attachment.
Vaznev-9K
- Muzzle: Bruen Pendulum

The Vaznev is an extremely effective melee weapon for SMG players that can be used in ranked games.
Players can choose either the Otrezat stock or the Broadside FCT stock . If you are confident in your goal, Broadside FCT will offer the best mobility and speed at the expense of control.
Anthony “Shotzy” Cuevas-Castro of OpTic Texas claims Broadside FCT is the best option.
Barrel choice again comes down to two options between Commando Foregrip and FSS Sharkfin 90. It’s up to you if you prefer more control or speed for your Vaznev gear.
As you may have noticed, we only chose four attachments due to the fact that the fifth would damage some of the stats we want to buff with this weapon.
VEL 46
- Barrel: Tango 228 Barrel
- Lower barrel: Bruen Sync Shot Grip
- Stock: Assault-60 Stock

The VEL 46 became prominent in Modern Warfare 2 ranked play with the Season 2 Reloaded update. The 30- round mounted magazine has improved handling and mobility.
The Tango 228 barrel will improve range and bullet speed, while the Schlager Soldier Grip and Assault-60 stock will focus on increasing ADS speed.
Pro player CDL Shotzzy praised this weapon after experimenting with it in ranked play. The VEL 46 is the perfect weapon for players who want to try something new as an alternative to the Vaznev.
SP-X80

There are several sniper rifles that Modern Warfare 2 players can use in ranked play, but the SP-X 80 is the most popular choice at the moment. This reflects his rise in popularity in the CDL after players switched to the MCPR-300 at the start of the season.
The SP-X 80 combines the best features of the MCPR-300 and LA-B 330 into one sniper rifle. You’ll find the SP-X 80 has great handling and hits quite hard at most ranges in a ranked Search and Destroy game.

Due to the damage, the MCPR is one of the best sniper rifles to use in ranked matches. First, the 5-round magazine will make the sniper lighter, which will increase his mobility and allow you to move faster.
